Sun Room Extension

Another client wished to create an extension to the kitchen and to provide internal and external areas in which to sit and appreciate the garden. The architect prepared several designs, and the accepted solution was a sun room which enclosed a sitting area and space for occasional meals, while the kitchen was re-configured in the rear of the room and still receives a good deal of natural light. A patio was created in natural stone paving in the sun trap area of the garden.

The House of Foam!

This two-storey dormer cottage holds a secret. The structure is insulated concrete formwork, (ICF), formed by stacking together blocks of expanded polystyrene in a Lego type manner and filling the hollow centre with concrete. The quickly erected white shell was then clad in bricks with a traditional timber roof structure to give a well insulated property. Inside, the house has a modern feel, with well co-ordinated fittings, textures and finishes.
